Earlier today, I had the opportunity to lead a workshop focusing on the analysis of public corruption within the national budget as part of the Liberia Media Empowerment Project, generously supported by the European Union. Throughout the session, we emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness regarding public financial management and reducing official secrecy associated with national security investments. Moreover, we addressed the delicate balance between our country’s tradition of secrecy and the potential risks of excessive and unjustified concealment of vital information about public finances across all branches of government. I gained valuable insights from the young reporters participating in the workshop, who are the recorders of our deeds, the keepers of our conscience, and the couriers of our news. I wish them all the best for their future careers.
I had a busy and productive week!
