We spent our day visiting Gbarpolu’s institutions to acquaint ourselves with their challenges and opportunities as we prepared to formulate our County Development Agenda with our colleagues in the Executive Branch. Our first stop was with the dynamic and energetic County Education Officer (CEO) and team, and the Bopolu Central High School. High infrastructure increased leading to increased graduation rates. Girls’ high school graduation rate remains a dismal 2%, nevertheless, one of the lowest in the country. The CEO also talked about training and incentives for teachers. We must reverse this! I am encouraged by their commitment to our children under difficult circumstances. Building on their success to improve education outcomes in our country is now our call in the Senate.
Tomorrow: we will share our visits to the healthcare team, the bank, the gender coordination group, joint security, and the Gbarpolu Service Center.
