I commend President Boakai for signing Executive Order #131 establishing the Office of War and Economic Crimes Court of Liberia to bring justice to the victims of the atrocities in Liberia’s protracted civil wars. The $500k in the National Budget the Legislature just voted for can best be used to set up this office as we agreed during our consultative meeting on the budget. This is a REAL change that moves Liberia a step closer to accountability for the barbaric killing of innocent Liberians including my father, siblings, uncles, aunts, and the village that raised me. This is also a victory for our two leaders of the Legislature – Speaker and President Pro Tempore – and all of us who signed the WECC Resolution.
